Sketchbook Watercolors Linda Rupard

These are watercolor & ink sketches on paper that will be painted larger in my studio. Rocker was one I had taken a photo from a chair setting on a patio. The campground & RV's are painted from a campground in CA. One more zentangle where I am trying to learn to do a square spiral. More fun in the sketchbook.

Sketchbook Zentangles Linda Rupard

I have got into Zentangles & sketching for the sketchbook challenge & I can't quit. Fun fun past time that you don't even have to think just sketch. I usually start with something, one was started with a sunflower, one was a goose , one was from a star that I had seen somewhere but the most fun was one that came from the ink dots that came through the page & got on another page. I was fussing about it & my Husband looked at it & said just connect the dots, so Connect The Dots was born. A piece of wax paper behind the page you are drawing on will keep the ink from coming through the page, but if you want a surprise just let those ink dots come on through & connect the dots. The Sunflower was the ink that went through & started the big star in Connect the dots. Check out the Sketchbook Challenge if you haven't seen it. It is a neat group of 7 artist that do lots of different things.

London Bridge Linda Rupard

This is a nursery rhyme that most of us sang when we were children. Seems a magical place. The bridge was slowly sinking into the river bed over the Thames River. Built in 1832 by 1924 one side of the bridge was 3-4 inches lower then the other. The Common Council of the City of London placed the bridge on the market. London Bridge was sold to McCulloch Corp for $2,460,000 dollars. Each block was numbered before it was taken apart. Blocks were shipped over to CA & trucked from Long Beach to AZ. where it was reconstructed over Lake Havasy. finished in 1971. Total cost was $5.1 million. An English village stands on the shore of the lake. One of the most popular AZ tourist attraction. Seems a shame that it is not as nice as it was at one time. Lots of the stores in the village are now closed. Guess the poor economy has hit here just like the rest of our country, Still a great way to spend the day. I painted this view of the bridge from a photo I took while we were there.

Sketchbook Gold Linda Rupard

This is a page from my sketchbook. Using texture & acrylic paint both left over from another project. Texture was dry then I added the paint, orange, gold & brown with a card, leaving some of the white. Aspen trees were there so just added some darks & defined the trunks for a golden aspen forest.

Sketchbook Heart Zentangle Linda Rupard

This is an ink zentangle from my sketchbook. Would like to do this one with paint. This is a wonderful way to start something when I am not sure what I want to do. So many different combinations that just seem to move off my pen with the way I am feeling that day. It is a good warmup for getting in the zone & fired up to paint . It is also a wonderful past time when I am just waiting at Dr or some other appointment. Traveling down the road great past time to make me think we get somewhere faster. Sometime it comes out good enough that I want to do something else with it & sometime I just want to gesso over & try something else on my page. Love all the experimenting that happens in my sketchbook & all the ideas that start perking there. If you like sketchbook fun you will enjoy Angelia's Art Journals for different ideas wonderful journaling & neat photos of Ohio.

Mesa Church Linda Rupard

This was done from a photo I took while in AZ. Watercolor & Ink on paper 11 x 15 . Also a photo I found of some of our fun trips we took while we were there. This store was in an old mining town that we went to near Superstition Mountains . Lots of old buildings had been restored and cowboys & traders in tents were there to help you see how it was back then. The old snake Dr was hawking his wares & it must have been like back then too, because he was full of bull. All that was missing was his medicine wagon.
