Bluebonnets Linda Rupard
We went to our place on the lake today which I think of as my hide away, & we have Bluebonnets blooming. If we could just get some rain more would bloom & our lake would get some much needed water. Praying for rain here in the dry west TX area.

Doug Walton Workshop Linda Rupard
This was the last day of Doug's workshop. I had good intentions of taking everyones photo with their painting but I run out of gas at the end of the day & only got Joys paintings with her holding them & Eole's painting, maybe next year I can get everyone with at least one painting. It was a week of fun filled days, good friends & hard work but lots of work turned out. Almost everyone got 4 paintings & some more. First photo is of Doug giving critique with his paintings you can see a yellow wash added to 3 but forth is waiting for a glow. Second photo is of Estelle coming to the last day demo. Estelle has taken every year since Doug started coming to Big Spring, which is several years now. Estelle was unable to take this year but is gearing up for next year. Some of our international class can be seen waiting for Estelle. Many helping hands are holding her chair.

Doug Walton Workshop Linda Rupard
I am in a workshop with Doug Walton this week. I have never been able to do abstract art easily and Doug is sharing a way that even I can do. Very interesting, first photo shows Doug critiquing our first paintings. Some of the edges of gallery wrap canvases can be seen in some of the workshop students canvases in the first photo. Second photo shows Doug helping a student choose the best of their 20 cards to put on the canvas. These cards were made from a drawing & color on paper that was then cut into the 20 cards. I will show my painting when I finish it. We are using latex & paper collage on canvas this time. Doug always seems comes up with something new to learn every year.

Still Life Flowers, WIP Linda Rupard
I have had a wild day in the studio today fun but work. This is one of the 3 I have going now. I was mixing each palette on paper plates & switching palettes as I changed paintings. One of the plates was in my chair that I set in sometimes & yep I set on it, just lucky plate was not too full This one is getting close but see that more work needs to be done . It is acrylic on a one inch cradle board panel so no frame is needed.

FL Sketchbook
The trip was fun most of the time but it is so good to be home. I have been painting but haven't finished one yet so here's 2 more sketches from my sketchbook. I found this wonderful sketch book at Santa Fe last year & was finely able to use it on our trip, really nice because the ink does not go through the page onto the next page so no more wax paper behind each one .
It is the Super Deluxe BEE PAPER Aqua-bee sketch book. This one is 9 X 6, heavyweight drawing paper for use with wet or dry media made in the good o USA. Has textured surface with tooth, all this is quoted from the front of the book. So far I do like the results I have had with it. They can be googled at Bee Paper CO if anyone is interested in a good ink journal. The Mule & carriage is a good way to get down the narrow streets in New Orleans if you get tired of hoofing it you can take a restful ride if you know where you are going. Hard when you realize your parking meter is running out & your Husband is lost & you are running up & down streets trying to find the way back to where you were. Lucky that I remembered tacking a photo of a place down a street that He did not want to go up. That has to be a big JOY for me because He loves to make fun of me for always being lost.

FL Sketches
One more photo of our trip to FL. Two of my sketchbook drawings. Was nice warm & sunny most of the time we were in FL Keys. Surprised there were no waves where we stayed above Key-west. Ocean just came up to the land a little scary filling like we were just floating on top of the water. Every weekend we could find something going on to entertain us. Since trees grew in the water by our campground everyone would gather on the West corner to watch the sun set over the water. Really was a sight to see. I wonder did I really hear the sizzle when it sunk into the Sea. Ha, ha, good fun anyway. We met so many interesting people at the sunsets from all over the US & Canada.

Winter Vacation
We left for FL for the winter in Jan & I have been unable to get my photos on my traveling computer so haven't been posting. We had a wild trip with rain storms, flooding & high, high winds but we still had lots of fun. Have worked mostly in my sketch book for the last 2 months. I will share some of those pages soon. The ocean scene is out the window of our Friends condo on the AL coast. Beautiful country but really wet to this old TX dry land native. The 2 houses are a sample of the wonderful colorful houses in New Orleans. Missed the big celebration but saw remains of all the Mardi Gras celebrations with masks, decorations & beads hanging from the fences, trees & buildings. Someday would like to see some of the parades & things . We always seem to miss it by a few days.
